College's too-fat-to-graduate rule under fire

This weeks article is about how people cannot graduate because they are too fat. In Lincoln University there is a new rule that tells that students with a body mass of 30 or above cannot graduate until they complete a fitness course. Students who have to do the course think it is unfair and that they did not want to get to that school for people to tell them they are fat. In defense teachers say that they are just being honest and they are trying to help the students to be healthier. Other students think it is fair and a good idea but not all. This is a big change for the school.
The bias are that a student named Tiana Lawson thinks that it is unfair because she does not want to be called fat in a place she is paying to be in and we also think it is a little bit unfair.
Our opinion is that in some way it is unfair for the fat people because the school is taking away their opportunnities to graduate because something they are. But in the other hand it is fair because if they graduate fat they won't receive a job. We hope that this problem can be solved.

Diabetics Show Alarming Increase in Morbid Obesity

This weeks article is about people who have diabetes type 2 that are now suffering from morbid obesity. This is a contagious sickness between diabetics that is increasing a lot. There have been a lot of surveys to prove this fact. Diabetes already could cause a cardiovascular disease but know with this sickness the chances of having a cardiovascular disease increase also as the kidney disease, sleep disorder breathing, arthritis, and fatty liver disease. The people with this disease have a BMI of 40 and normal obese people have it of 30. This is a very serious problem.
The bias are that a lot of doctors like Kramer think that this is a serious problem that is increasing in an alarming rate and can affect others people's health.
Our opinion is that this can be a really big problem in our community. Diabetics are already suffering their disease but now they also need to deal with morbid obesity and it is ruining their lives. And also this is a problem that can happen in any country and affect anyone like innocent people. We think this can really affect our community's (and our)health. We hope this ends soon and that people with the disease get better.

Air Pollution Increases Infants' Risk Of Bronchiolitis

This weeks article is about air pollution. Researches had demonstrated that bronchitis on infants has increased because of air pollution. Most of this cases had happened in places were there is a lot traffic and wood smoke. There are more cases of pollution than in maternal smoking. The people who live closer to streets has less cases than people who live near the woods. For this cause a lot of babies have been send to the hospital.
Our opinion is that this problem should stop because it is taking away some innocent lives of children. It affects us in the way that we can get sick because of air pollution. We are also afraid because this is a problem that is difficult to stop and that can kill people we know. We should stop the causes of pollution like the cutting and burning of trees because it causes a lot of types of pollution. We hope this problem stop.
No Bias.

Plight of the albatrosses: Choking on plastic waste

Summary:
The article of this week it's about birds that choke with plastic waste. What happens is that birds are eating plastic because they can't find food in their environment. Then, they eat plastic, because the plastic has remains of food inside. Also those birds give the plastic to their fledglings to eat. Then the birds who eat the plastic choke or cut themselves to death.Photographers have taken pictures of dead bodies of birds with plastic remains inside them. This article is very sad.
We chose this article because it is interesting how world is becoming. We feel very sad for all this birds that are being killed. It affect us in the way that if there are no birds they will not eat bugs and we will have an insect attack. Also we are destroying our environment and without birds the alimentary chain will affect a lot. We hope this ends.
Bias: The bias we found are that we think strongly that we should care for our environment. We think it is sad to see all this birds dying around us. We need to take more responsibility with our surroundings.

The New Georgia Nature Center

For this week, we founded an article about "The New Georgia Nature Center". It has more than 100 acres of mixed forests, meadows, creeks, and springs. Now open for public tourists, this land is being protected because it contains hundreds of species of animals and plants. There are near 1000 types of carnivorous plants are being propagated to universities and botanical gardens. This is a big project and we should protect it.

We chose this article because we think that it is really good that people are now building new places for animals and plants. It is important for people to realize that the earth is our planet and our home and we need to take care of it. Besides, we love animals and we the environment. We are happy for these people who are making the park and we think we need one of those in where we live. This place will be beautiful and it affects us in a good way because now the people are starting to realize what we need to do to save our planet. We should change like they did.

Bias: the bias we found in this article are that people are taking care of the environment. We also think that all the things they are doing we should do them on every place. We believe on saving our environment.
